Steve earned his master's degree in Physical Therapy from Ithaca College in 1997 and has practiced in a variety of settings including hospitals, inpatient rehabilitation centers and outpatient clinics since that time. Due to his own injury, he has a special interest in the rehabilitation of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand but enjoys treating all types of orthopedic injuries. His treatment emphasizes manual therapy complemented by an expertise in Kinesiotaping techniques to support or facilitate injured muscles. Steve is an avid cyclist and takes special interest in treating injuries commonly associated with cycling. Steve resides locally in East Windsor with his wife and two daughters.
Sandra Neumann, PT, Cert. MDT
Sandy graduated from Ohio University School of Physical Therapy in 1992. She later received a Master's degree in Motor Learning and Motor Control from Teacher's College, Columbia University. Sandy has worked in a wide range of settings including acute care, inpatient rehabilitation and post-traumatic brain injury, but has specialized in outpatient orthopedics since 1998. In 1999 Sandy was certified in the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment, a specialized approach to the evaluation and treatment of spinal pain. Her current treatment approach encorporates the McKenzie method with manual therapy techniques including myofascial release, joint mobilization and the Mulligan method. When not in the clinic Sandy can usually be found cheering on her children at their many sporting events including soccer, basketball, football, wrestling and lacrosse. Sandy was appointed Clinical Director at Zaffarese Physical Therapy in 2012.
Michelle Onion, PT, MSPT
Michelle graduated from Simmons College with her Master's Degree in Physical Therapy in 1994. Since that time Michelle has practiced in a variety of settings but found her true calling in orthopedics. She has a special interest in the subtle nuances of the human body and believes it is most important to have a wide variety of treatment techniques to choose from. This has led to her to an extensive study of various manual therapy techniques. Through a mixture of continuing education courses Michelle continues to increase her knowledge base in manual therapy. She has special skill with muscle energy techniques to correct joint, spinal and pelvic alignment and has recently received training in SFMA, a technique which emphasizes the identification and treatment of maladaptive movement patterns. Michelle has a love of all things natural and holistic. She joined Zaffarese Physical Therapy in 2008 and lives locally with her husband and son.
Deepa Salvi, PT, MSPT
Deepa earned her master's degree in physical therapy in 2003 from Thomas Jefferson University summa cum laude. Throughout her career she has worked in an outpatient setting focusing primarily on orthopedic and sports related injuries. In addition, she has taken many manual therapy courses related to the evaluation and treatment of sacroiliac dysfunction. Deepa also enjoys working with patients following total knee and total hip replacements. She has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 2002. In her spare time Deepa enjoys travel, theater, and spending time with family.
Chitra Salgame, PT, MSPT, Cert. MDT
Chitra has over 20 years of PT experience encompassing all fields of physical therapy including pediatrics, acute, sub acute care and out patient. She is also a certified yoga instructor (India) and was a nationally ranked Badminton player in India. She enjoys working with all kind of patients. Chitra recently became certified in the McKenzie method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment.
Julie Real, PT
Julie graduated from the University of Utah. She is a Techniques Level Certified Craniosacral Therapist and teaching assistant in the Upledger Institute. She has specialized in the area of Craniosacral Therapy for 22 years. This Gentle hands-on technique assists in the alleviation of pain, increases mobility, enhanced the relaxation response and is used for overall health promotion. CST can be a valuable adjunct to a patient’s established treatment or on its own. Julie enjoys outdoors and the seasonal activities that go along with it, including golfing, biking, hiking, and skiing.
Jennifer Ottes, PT, MSPT
Jennifer earned a BS in Exercise and Sports Science at Penn State University. She continued her studies and received a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from Hahnemann University 2000. She has clinical experience in a wide range of settings including acute care, impatient rehab, home care and aquatic physical therapy but her primary interest is orthopedics and sports medicine. Jennifer attends continuing education courses on a regular basis related to sports medicine and manual therapy to stay current with new treatment techniques. In her free time she enjoys hiking, cycling, mountain biking, running and spending time with her family.
Sondra Tomei, PTA
Sondra found a way to combine many of her lifelong interests by becoming a physical therapist assistant (PTA). She received a Bachelors degree from the University of Vermont while working as a professional figure skating coach. Sondra ended her 25 year long athletic career when she and her family took the rare opportunity to move to the island of Grand Cayman. While there she continued to work as a community volunteer and full time parent. In 2004 she earned her AAS from Mercer County Community College graduating Phi Theta Kappa and began her second career as a PTA. Since graduating she has worked in brain injury and impatient rehabilitation but found her real passion to be in orthopedics. Through continuing education she has focused on manual therapy and muscle energy techniques. By integrating her skills in biology, sports and family into a career in physical therapy, she has proven that a successful career path need not always be linear.
Jennifer Viloria, PTA
Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2002 from St. John’s University graduating Magna Cum Laude. After working as a Graphic Designer for two years, Jennifer decided to leave the corporate world to pursue a career in healthcare. Having been plagued by numerous knee injuries and surgeries, Jennifer developed an interest in physical therapy. She enrolled in Mercer County Community College and graduated with high honors from their Physical Therapist Assistant program. She has been practicing since 2006 and has spent her career working in outpatient facilities with her main interest in orthopedics and sports related injuries. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husand, two daughters and their yellow labrador.
Tim Van Dyke, PTA
Tim earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Trenton State College in 1995. While attending the University he was a member of the men’s Varsity Basketball team for 3 years. In 1999 he attended Mercer County Community college where he earned his Associates Degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Tim likes working with all patient cases, but his main interest is in Orthopedics. Tim especially enjoys treating athletes and helping them return to the field or the court as they were prior to their injury. When not working, Tim enjoys the outdoors, sports and spending time with his family and dog Diesel.
